SmartLipo (laser liposuction) can eliminate areas of unwanted fat and tone your entire body. An FDA-approved procedure, SmartLipo uses a tiny 1 mm laser tip probe that dissolves fat and tightens the skin. There is little to no blood loss, and it is performed under local anesthesia here in our Frederick medical practice. For most areas, you may even return to work the next day.
The laser-assisted lipolysis procedure uses a one millimeter cannula (or tube) inserted into the skin. There is a laser fiber inside of the cannula that delivers energy directly to fat cells, which causes them to rupture and then drain away as liquid. At the same time, tissue around the area coagulates, which results in overall tighter skin tissue.
SmartLipo is ideal for the neck, jaw line, arms, "bra fat," abdomen, "love handles," "saddle bags," inner and outer thighs and knees.
SmartLipo is designed for areas that do not respond to diet or exercise. Conventional liposuction removes greater amounts of fat.
SmartLipo is minimally invasive and usually requires only local anesthesia. You should be able to return to work in a couple of days and resume exercise after several weeks.
Usually just one treatment is needed. Results can be seen within a week, with improvement continuing for three to six months. Sylvana may recommend a compression garment for a short time after treatment, depending on the part of the body that was treated.
